The Oral History Live! series at EMP|SFM features intimate interviews before a live audience.

Join us for a live interview with Fred and Dinah Gretsch as we help them celebrate The Gretsch Company’s 125th anniversary.

Founded in 1883 as a small musical instrument shop in Brooklyn, NY, The Gretsch Company, now based in Savannah, GA, has produced some of the world's greatest drums and guitars over the span of four generations. With its emphasis on hand-craftsmanship and commitment to quality, Gretsch has pioneered new designs and manufacturing techniques, winning endorsements from some of the music industry's most respected artists, including Chet Atkins, Charlie Watts, Neil Young and Phil Collins.

Fred and Dinah Gretsch will be joined by Gretsch artists Steve Ferrone, drummer from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and TV Jones, a leader in the development and manufacture of innovative, high quality guitar pickups. They will be interviewed by an EMP|SFM curator about this incredible milestone in their family business.

Fred and Dinah Gretsch
A devoted husband and wife team, Fred and Dinah Gretsch have devoted their lives to the Gretsch family legacy of hard work and dedication to making a quality professional product without sacrificing ideals. Celebrating 125 years as a family business, the Gretsch name is a testament to the spirit, passion and determination of the people devoted to its ongoing success.

Steve Ferrone
Steve Ferrone is a Brighton-born drummer who studied at The Nice Conservatory, one of Europe’s most prestigious music schools. During his time in Europe, he was very active in the Italian and French music scenes.

Tom TV Jones
For over two decades, Thomas V. Jones, founder of TV Jones, Inc., has earned the respect and praise of countless world-class guitar players. He developed an interest in guitars at a young age, which led him on a journey to becoming a passionate, self-taught musician, luthier pickup maker.
